What is Arizona Gives Day?

Arizona Gives Day is a state and nationwide, 24 hour, online giving campaign that helps people find, learn about, and contribute to causes they believe in. Arizona Gives Day provides Arizona based non-profits with a way to share their story and engage the community through a unique online giving platform.

Why should I donate?

The Phoenix Zoo, part of the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation, is one of the largest non-profit zoological parks in the nation serving 1.4 million guests annually. The Zoo opened its gates more than 50 years ago and continues to be a treasured destination for locals, as well as guests from far and wide. Nestled on 125 acres of beautiful desert and lakes in Papago Park, the Zoo provides natural habitats for more than 1,400 animals, including more than 30 different endangered or threatened species from around the world. The Zoo is proud to provide educational programs to more than 160,000 children and adults each year and supports conservation efforts locally and internationally.

Through the Phoenix Zoo’s annual Conservation & Science Grants program, the Zoo provides vital support to conservation efforts across the globe. For the 2013 – 14 cycle, the Zoo awarded nearly $62,000 in grants to 21 projects addressing priority issues in 14 different countries, in addition to funding three grants to Zoo staff members sharing their expertise with conservation organizations in the field. These efforts, together with significant investments in native species recovery efforts at the Zoo, demonstrate the Zoo’s commitment to investing in the future of wildlife and habitats near and far.

Since 2008 the Zoo has invested nearly $310,000 in grants and contributions supporting conservation worldwide.

The Zoo relies exclusively on its earned income and the support of members, donors and the local community to provide funds for operational support and capital improvements. Any donation amount you are able to make to the Zoo for Arizona Gives Day will go toward the care of our animals, the enhancement of our educational programs, operating costs, and support of conservation efforts.
