Let Us Bring The Phoenix Zoo To You!
Inspiring people to live in ways that promote the well being of the natural world is part of the Phoenix Zoo's mission statement. Our Outreach program fulfills this mission by delivering educational and exciting programs to your organization.
Our Outreach specialists strive to engage the audiences about the wonders of our earth and the animals with whom we share it.
Presentations can be either a booth setting (demonstration table with one-on-one discussion) or an interactive with audience participation.
Choose from the following presentations:
- Animal Kingdom: Experience the wide variety of the animal kingdom with the Phoenix Zoo. From fur to feathers, scales to exoskeletons, discover the amazing characteristics of the animal world. (Recommended for grades PreK-2)
Animal Kingdom Academic Content Standards - Creepy Crawlies: Venture into the world of slimy, creepy, scaley or even scary creatures. Learn how these "creepy" animals are beneficial to plants, animals and even their environment! See for yourself that these aniamls aren't as "creepy" as you thought! (Recommended for grades PreK-2)
Creepy Crawlies Academic Content Standards - Desert Connections: From the blistering sun to the scorching sand, discover how animals have adapted to live in this environment. Presentation includes discussions about camouflage, nocturnal vs. diurnal, habitats, food and water conservation. (Recommended for grades 3-5)
Desert Connections Academic Content Standards - Predator/Prey: Explore the wild animal survival kit. Learn about the many ways animals eat and avoid being eaten! Discover adaptions like the silent flight of the owl, snake scales, prickly spines of a hedgehog, and other fascinating survival tactics. (Recommended for grades 3-5)
Predator/Prey Academic Content Standards - Endangered Species: Find out the challenges plants and animals face worldwide. Introduced species, disease, loss of habitat and poaching are some of the subjects that will be discussed. Discover what the Phoenix Zoo is already doing and what you can do to help. (Recommended for grades 6+)
Endangered Species Academic Content Standards - Custom Presentations: Make your own custom program about what your classroom is studying.
Fees:
- $180 - $200 for the first program hour depending on location ( 75 people per hour presentation )
- $150 for each additional instructor or hour (minimum one hour)
- Additional presentations can be booked at a discounted price.
Preschool programs will be split into two thirty minute presentations.
For a quality experience, each presentation is limited to a maximum of 75 people.
All program topics can be adapted to fit any age or group.
