Campaign Goal: Minimum of $20 Million
We intend to contact many of our past, present and potential friends of the Phoenix Zoo for a tax deductible capital pledge to support the strategic goals and vision of the Zoo’s master plan. The private sector and general public will be invited to make a formal pledge of support that can be paid over the next three years; 2008, 2009 and 2010. The campaign goals include; 1) To communicate the Zoo’s mission, core purpose and program impact upon this community, 2) To involve & engage more volunteers and partnerships, 3) To identify new donors, sponsors and supporters, 4) To raise the required funds necessary to implement the initial strategic plans & goals, and finally 5) To give current staff, board and volunteers an opportunity to further support and invest in the Phoenix Zoo.

Key campaign projects to be completed over the next five years
1) Upgrade & Improve the Infrastructure; utilities, technology and communications.
(Achieved mostly with public government funds & Native American support)
2) Build an Admin/Volunteer/Program Support Services Headquarters which will
represent the Zoo’s commitment to the environment with the use of reusable
resources for construction and sustainable operations.
3) Remodel the Zoo Entrance, Shade archway over the bridge with better access.
Construct new entry aquatic, native wildlife exhibits and aquarium displays.
4) Add a Lake overlook -Gatsby tent for group/program services activity with a new Orangutan Night house & exhibit, new Tiger Exhibit and additional Predator
Node exhibits like Komodo Dragon.
5) An allocation to the permanent Zoo Endowment Fund – for repair & upkeep.
Phoenix Zoo Facts:
We are one of the largest non-profit Zoos in the country which does not receive any government operating subsidy. Arizona’s second most popular point-of-destination behind the Grand Canyon. We have attracted and recorded over 1.5 million visitors last year. The Phoenix Zoo hosts over 1,300 animals, 1,200 varieties of plants and has recorded more than 43 million visitors since opening in 1962. The operating budget is $20 million with over 325 employees and another 400+active volunteers. The Zoo has 43,000+ memberships which represents nearly 103,000 individuals.
Recognition & Appreciation:
All donors will be listed in the Phoenix Zoo Honor Roll register and receive a special edition recognition pin. Donors will be recognized in the Wild Times publication and the final list of capital contributors. Major donors will be appropriately recognized with Naming & Dedication plaques as well as prominent signage.
